My dad was more like a friend to me and my brother. We would always joke around and we could tell him anything. He loved animals and music and I shared both these interests with him. He was a caring man who always put others first. Throughout his life he was quite shy and kept himself to himself, he suffered with a continuous backache, after an accident at work. He also suffered with depression, but the year before he died he snapped out of it, he started to come out of his shell and he began to socialise and we had a good deal of fun together. Feeling better in himself he began to make plans, he was planning on changing his career and he was beginning to enjoy life again.
I will always remember the times we had, laughing and messing around, and the games he used to play with me and my brother, when we were little. He was very strict with homework and sat us down and helped us after school. At the end of the school term, he was so proud of our school work that he had it bagged up and put up the loft! (In fact, its still there!)
He loved children and I know he would have loved to have been a granddad, but sadly this just wasn't meant to be.
